The US announced the deployment of USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group to the eastern Mediterranean on Sunday amid a major crisis in Israel. The USS Gerald R. Ford is the US Navy's newest aircraft carrier and is on its first full deployment. Aircraft carriers have long been deployed to deter enemy forces, engage in air operations, and provide humanitarian support in emergencies. F-18 jet fighters are seen on the flight deck of USS Gerald R. Ford, on November 17, 2022 in Gosport, England. The deployment of the carrier strike group indicates US support for its ally during this serious crisis.

Sen. Tuberville called out "wokeness" in the Navy, saying people are reading "poems on aircraft carriers." But the art form has been a long been a part of military service, especially for sailors. Tuberville faces widespread criticism for blocking hundreds of promotions over the Pentagon's abortion policy. Tuberville's comments on poetry and "wokeness" in the Navy come seemingly out of nowhere — especially considering the art form has a long history for sailors. Sailors assigned to the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Albuquerque SSN 706 stand watch as the boat departs Diego Garcia.

By September, the tally of lost and captured Russian tanks reached 1,000 — more than all the tanks in the British, French, German, and Finnish militaries combined. The first time these British tanks found a fight, only 25 of the 49 of them actually moved when ordered to commence the attack. Nonetheless, before the conflict was over, Churchill himself would decide tanks had, once again, run their course, declaring, "we have too much armor — tanks are finished." And that is the real lesson we can glean from the performance of Russian tanks in Ukraine over the past year. Maxim Shemetov/ReutersThis point becomes evident when you look at Russian tank losses recorded by the Oryx Blog between February and April 2022, when Russian tank losses were at their absolute worst.
Relativity Space, which 3D-prints rockets, said Tuesday that it signed a deal to expand its presence at NASA's Stennis Space Center in Mississippi and create one of the country's largest rocket engine test facilities. Based in Long Beach, California, Relativity's rockets are designed to be almost entirely 3D-printed, an approach the company says is less complex and faster to build or modify, compared with traditional rockets. "We're looking forward to writing some new history at Stennis through an incredibly large new expansion of development and test capabilities," Relativity cofounder and CEO Tim Ellis said in a statement. The area hasn't been used by the agency and is adjacent to existing rocket engine testing areas. The company is already operational at Stennis, with agreements for seven engine test stands that have seen Relativity conduct more than 2,000 tests to date.
